Hi everyone, been a while! Hope everyone is doing just fine, but if you are not fine, that is also okay. Don’t forget to reach out to your trusted ones when you need a boost.
I’ve been thinking a lot about adjustment. Everyday we have to adjust to different things. Perhaps new weather, new gains, new loses, you name it. This is especially true for those who move overseas, starting a new degree, entering a new job, all outside of their comfort zone. There are so many things that potentially stress us out! From technical things like “How does the route from kids’ school to work look like?”, to a more principle question like “Would my new coworkers see my indirectness as weakness?”.
How do we navigate all this differences and settle in? Should we change the way we are to adjust to our new place? The answer is yes and no.
It would be a yes if you think the change is good for your self growth : People here are always punctual, I should start respecting my time and their time too by being punctual.
It would be a no if it contradicts greatly with your core values: People here drink a lot of alcohol. It doesn’t align with my belief, I don’t have to follow it.
I’d love to talk in more detailed and be more specific, so if you are experiencing changes at the moment, feeling lost, doubting your self, missing your comfort zone, please share or ask questions through my email. Will answer them in my next posts. I’ll try my best to remind you how powerful you are and that support is always just around the corner :). Looking forward!
