Yes, just like what we all suspect, it is SO necessary to make the effort and time, to date your partner/spouse. Just like with everything important in our life, our relationship has to be continuously nurtured, and maintained. Especially if we are planning to keep it for the rest of our life! But it is not that easy sometimes, for various reasons. Too tired to make any effort after working the whole day, no baby sitters, and other obstacles.
BUT a date with your spouse doesn't have to be anything big or fancy, you can even do it in the comfort of your home. You just have to be intentional about giving your time and attention to your loved one on these ‘dates’.
Suggestions on what you could do at home:
Put the kids to sleep early and watch that 2h movie you’ve been meaning to watch on HBOmax or other
Yoga for couple for stretching and who knows where it’d lead ;). You can find lots of options on Youtube.
Commit to ordering a cuisine from different cities/countries that you never tried before. Good surprises are always welcome.
Buy new sexy board/card games. Shared experiences of trying new things together will make you closer!
Solve murder mystery together - subscribe to monthly Escape Room Adventure or Mystery Society Box. Just remember you are in the same team :D.
Subscribe to date box in your area where you get monthly kits to do different activities together with your partner. It could be making a dessert, building/crafting something, games, and others. The anticipation is part of the fun! (Few date box recommendations available in the US: Unbox love, Escape the Crate Box, Hello Fresh)
Why don’t you try one out this weekend! Let me know if you have other ideas on what you could do for ‘date night at home’ or share your experiences/recommendations if you tried it before. Curious to know what my Indonesian friends do, or anyone outside the US!
