It is normal for people to feel happy and sad simultaneously or immediate changes of emotions, heck in Indonesia we even have an old saying (or was it a song? please correct me if I’m wrong) that says “Habis nangis ketawa, makan gula jawa” which translates to “you laugh after you cry, eat a tamarind” lol it doesn’t make sense if you translate it to english, but it rhymes in Indonesian (but does it make sense? not sure 😂). But it basically is saying how common it is to have your emotions shifted in short period of time.
So when is it considered to be a mood disorder or bipolar disorder? When it is so severe and overwhelming, lasts for some period of time, and interferes with your daily functioning. Good news: bipolar disorder is highly treatable! If you suspect that you yourself or your family or friends might suffer from this type of mood disorder, please encourage them to seek for help. They could have a better quality of live 🤗.
